thankfulness1I’m taking a page from the folks at Daily Writing Tips who occasionally write a post on all the synonyms for a certain word, and adding my own twist to the exercise so many are involved in this month—posting 30 days of thankfulness. How many ways are there to say “thank you” or express thankfulness?

With assists from dictionary.com and Roget’s Thesaurus here goes:

  • Gratitude, grateful, gratified
  • Appreciation
  • Indebted
  • Obliged
  • Overwhelmed
  • Content, contented
  • Pleased
  • Satisfied
  • Praise
  • Benediction
  • Beholden
  • Worship
  • Glad
  • Happy
  • Agreeable
  • Delighted
  • Harmonious
  • Touched

And who doesn’t know how to say thank you in at least one other language?

  • Gracias
  • Merci
  • Danke
  • Grazi
  • Arigatō

To paraphrase I Corinthians 13…though I find just the right word to express gratitude, if I don’t live a thank-filled life, all my words are empty. Here’s to thank-filled living.
