Freelance editing is a second career for Judy Hagey, but it is built on a lifelong love of reading, years of experience in Christian higher education, and a commitment to excellence. 

During the financial collapse of the aughts, with her administrative assistant position about to be eliminated, she weighed her options: flexibility—the option to work anywhere and anytime—was a high priority. So was helping others communicate clearly and effectively. Recognized among her colleagues as the grammar guru, the path forward emerged and she launched her freelance editing service—Write Justified—a play on the typography term for aligning text and her interest in social justice.

Her training with the Christian Proofreaders and Editors Network (PEN) honed her skills and equipped her for her current role as the nonfiction managing editor for for Elk Lake Publishing, Inc., along with freelancing for independent authors and other publishers.

Her goal as an editor is simple: to be an invisible yet essential part of your team, ensuring your work shines while keeping your unique voice intact. She is thorough, reliable, and deeply dedicated to her craft. 

When not immersed in manuscripts, you may find her reading, preferably the latest debut author, spending cherished time with grandchildren and their parents, or enjoying the creative process of quilting.
